Talk about your all time back fires!

Okay, call it a lapse of judgement or sleep deprivation (or both) but ultimately both of these situations made me take a closer look at my parenting tactics.

Let's start off with the rain. Well, it rained and rained and rained. For about three days straight it rained. For those of you who have not experienced Midwest rain, it's ridiculous! It rains a lot and it rains hard. My kids love to be outside, so this rain issue posed a serious problem for them, especially Bryson. He wanted to play outside so badly, but no matter how many times we told him we couldn't play outside because of the rain, he continued to drag us to the sliding glass door all the while crying and begging to go outside. Well, in my sleep deprived wisdom, I told Steve to let him out so then he could "feel" why we couldn't play outside...in comes back fire #1! Couldn't get the kid to come back inside. It's hard to tell in these pictures, but he is soaked and it is raining hard...and he loved every minute! Now the next time it rains for three days he is definitely not going to buy the excuse of "rain"

Next day...still raining. We decided to go on a drive to Gurnee just to get out of the house and to pick up a few things we needed. Bryson was getting a little antsy so I gave him a notebook and a pen (YES A PEN...to a 2 YEAR OLD...IN THE CAR!) in comes back fire #2! Of course he was amazingly quiet and occupied with his pen and paper, then I turned around to see why. I had to turn back around to disguise my laughing. His canvas had changed. He had dropped his notebook, so where else was he supposed to color?

Not my most shining moments as a mother, but I must say, this boy is always going to give me good blog material...

  1. That is great, Tina! What a fun kid. You are right about him giving you a lot to blog about. You have probably noticed most of my posts are about Austin. Same reason.

Maybe you should come home and visit for awhile, to get out of the rain???? (I will use any excuse I can).
