"The best day in the whole wide world!"

That is how she thanked me for her birthday party. I guess that would explain how she got the nickname Sweet Pea. She really is such a wonderful kid and was so thankful for her Tinkerbell birthday party.

We decided that instead of going all crazy and throwing a big party at the bouncy place, or the Children's Museum, we would have it at our house and keep it simple. But c'mon, you know me right? If I am going to do it, I am going to do it right and probably over the top. It's just the way I am wired. So I probably would have saved myself a lot of time (and money) if I would have just had it somewhere else, but it was so much fun to do this for Jenna and really, it's just what I do and what I enjoy doing.

This was our first "friends" birthday party, so it presented a whole new set of challenges. How am I going to entertain 15 little girls for 2 hours and fit them all in my house? But it all worked out and it was so much fun. The girls got their own fairy wings and fairy tutus and made their own fairy wands and bracelets. It was also fun to play pin the star on the fairy wand. We ate pizza, then cake and of course Jenna's favorite part was the presents.

All of the time, effort and stress was so worth it because Sweet Pea was so appreciative and grateful and she continued to tell me all day how wonderful her party was.

Our beautiful birthday girl!

So the cake was so much fun to make, can I tell you how much I love fondant? I was so happy with the way it turned out. I have to send a shout out to BFF and partner in cake-crime, Melissa, who came the night before and helped me out.

Playing "pin the star on the Fairy Wand" - I made some wood stars into magnets so that the girls could take them home with them.

  7. Okay, so I need some ideas for a 4-year old's dinosaur party. We are staying at home as well and I love how special you made it for each girl. I also wanted to do some sort of "pin the ___ on the dino," so I love how simply you did your version. And, WOW! Those cakes are incredible!!

  8. I think that you have a second job available as a party planner. Think about it... :)

    Happy Birthday Steve!

AND, best news of all...you are having a BOY! Our boy's will only be two months a part! And, hopefully years from now we are all a lot closer in distance (sorry to all of the friends in Illinios...we want them back) and all these cute boys can join on the mountain biking trips.

Hope you are feeling well and enjoying the holidays!
