So it's been a while, you know how it is...
We made our trek west last month which is always fun. Since airfare never went down we decided we would drive. I swore that I would never do that again after we made the drive two years ago, but alas, another child later here I am swearing that we will never do it again.
After some stress and drama about getting our new van, we finally left at 3Pm on Saturday July 18th. We were supposed to leave on the 17th but it didn't happen thanks to drama.stess.van. (I will say, it was definitely worth the wait, I LOVE my new van.) So we were a day behind to begin with so Mr. Incredible thought it would be a marvelous idea to drive through the night, I wanted it to be over as quickly as possible, so I agreed. Despite a few meltdowns, the kids did relatively well. Although, I was soooo tempted to call Shauna at 12:30 AM as we passed through Omaha and our baby was SCREAMING (like she had never screamed before), but we pressed on. We did stop and have some play time with Mike, Kris & the girls in Green River, WY. It's always fun to have some one & one time with them. (you get the whole Goates' clan together and it's a little hectic to say the least! Stay tuned for that action)
Anyway, a short 29 hours after we left the comforts of our home in Chitown we made it to the motherland.
More to come...
What a fun summer we had! Our lives were suddenly filled with tons and tons of kids and grandkids, then just yesterday we dropped Merilee off at college, and just as suddenly we are empty nesters rattling around in an instantly too-large home again! What a strange life it has become -- it's either feast or famine for us. We loved having you here, and can't wait until the next time we get to see you all again!
